Make it stand out.
I’ve always been interested in how art and design is applied to emphasize qualities that set a business apart from its competitors.
As a college graduate with an entrepreneurial spirit, I began working with small businesses in need of reaching new clients. Listening to my clients’ objectives, I designed, produced and distributed customized marketing materials that got positive results. This led to establishing a small but successful design business. I wore many creative hats as art director, designer and project manager working with clients in healthcare, finance, food services, manufacturing, retail and more. In running a small business, I learned the importance of delivering a quality product, (i.e., creating great design!), selling services to new clients while valuing existing ones, keeping promises, meeting deadlines, billing, the art of compromise and the importance of listening. It was an education in and of itself. The lessons I learned from that time have been invaluable throughout my career.
In 2008, I began working for corporations in brand marketing and communications. My online portfolio displays professional, corporate design projects for EY-Parthenon, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Rhode Island and John Hancock Annuities.
As marketing and design deliverables evolved, I began learning Web Design, HTML, CSS, JavaScript and user experience (UI) design by taking classes at Massachusetts College of Art, Clark University, General Assembly in Boston, and online courses with The Art Institute, LinkedIn Learning and Udemy.
As a contract designer and freelancer looking forward, my goal is to focus more on web design, UI design, social media and working with content management systems (CMS).
